Safety and verification
Who you are talking to
- Posts and messages are anonymous. Phone numbers, links and social handles are blocked so nobody can be pulled off the platform.
- Marketplace listings are approved by an admin before anyone sees them.
- You can mute, block and report any post, message or clip. Admins review reports.
Student verification (optional)
- Anyone can join. If you are a university student you can confirm it with a code sent to your university email (for example @kyu.ac.ke). Verify as a student.
- Your feed stays anonymous. The student badge shows only on Market listings.
- We keep a scrambled fingerprint of the email, not the address, and you can remove the badge any time.
ID verification
- Comrades can ask for a verified badge by sending their role, admission or staff number and photos of their school ID.
- Only admins see those photos, only to confirm who the person is. They are not shown to other users.
- Withdrawing money from the wallet needs a verified account.
Payments
Payments are held in escrow until the buyer confirms. Paying outside the app removes that protection, so never do it. Read Refunds and disputes and Payments, escrow and payouts.
Age
Comrade Connect is for university and college students. Hearts is 18+ and relies on a self-declaration, not an age check.
Report a problem
Use the report button in the app, or email support@comradeconnect.co.ke. If anyone is in danger, call 999 or 112.
